Dear writer, hello! I'm very happy we've matched on the things I love, and I hope you have fun writing for me. Feel free to ignore optional details if they don't work for you - five thousand words in any of my fandoms will be a grand gift in itself! - but have them in hope they'll give some inspiration.

Here are some general things:

I like:
- You literally can't go wrong with hurt/comfort. It's my oldest and dearest bulletproof narrative kink, and if you're into it, just be as indulgent as you like. I love physical hurt/comfort (and you can go as far as you'd like with it), I love emotional hurt/comfort, I love various (AU or canon-compliant) captivity scenarios, I adore nursing-from-wounds-or-sickness stuff, I'm hugely into any opportunity for the characters to showcase their care and love for each other. I love hurt/comfort mostly within the context of the relationship (not necessarily romantic - filial ties, friendship, brothers-in-arms comradeship, whichever fits), as an opening for one character to be hurt and for other to be outraged/terrified/comforting on their behalf.
- Found families, everlasting friendships, us-against-the-world - I love the stories where people keep and find warmth and meaning in each other within the larger universe even when said universe is not generally benevolent. I love people holding each other against the dark.
- Hope and kindness - I love, in general, Clair universes, stories where there is, ultimately, meaning and hope instead of just entropy and neverending misery. Sometimes against all odds and sometimes at a great price, but getting there in the end.
- Loyalty - there's pretty much nothing I don't love about loyalty kink in all it forms! From its ritualized forms (royalty AUs, knights, oaths, kneeling, whatever you want) to more mundane of being unquestionably and in all events there for the other person.
- Self-sacrifice and martyrdom - give me people sacrificing themselves for others and suffering for the sake of something greater or somebody they love, and I'm a happy, happy reader.

I would prefer not to read about:
- Character death.
- Infidelity and/or partner betrayal of any kind.
- Hurt not followed by sufficient comfort; it's a very well-respected genre, but it's definitely not my thing (as for grievous hurt followed by comfort, then yes, see above and go ahead!).
- A/B/O universes and mpreg.
- Grimdark stories and unhappy endings.

I like gen and shipping fics alike, and porny shippy fics as well, but I would prefer not to receive a PWP story, if possible.

If you like stalking the recipient (as I do), my Yuletide letters, gifts and recs are unlocked; my tumblr is [tumblr.com profile] egelantier, my book reviews are over at [tumblr.com profile] egelantier-reading and my fics and bookmarks are at [archiveofourown.org profile] egelantier.

Fandoms!

琅琊榜 | Nirvana in Fire (TV)
Changsu/Xiao Jingyan Xiao Jingyan (Nirvana in Fire)
Canon Style Plot, Fix-it fic, Hurt/Comfort, Action/Adventure, Character Development, Interpersonal Drama, Mystery/Procedural

THIS SHOW. I'm so unbelievably in love with it, I saw it two times and I'm angling for a third one, I was devastated by the ending but I respected it, and I love pretty much everybody in this bar, forever. I'm sort of scaling down my requests from "everything" to "LS-MCS actually TALKING TO EACH OTHER and possibly HUGGING" and "somebody please let Jingyan be less sad for about fifteen minutes." I feel that out of everybody in the series Jingyan, for all that LS-MCS was so focused on him, got the least possible amount of closure and least amount of honesty; so, if you could go there and fix it, if just a bit, that would be wonderful.

A bit sideways to it, but I'm endlessly fascinated with their relationship between the fall of the Bureau and the final reveal, the way Jingyan's won over and drawn in and becomes really protective almost despite himself. Maybe some kind of hurt/comfort casefic where they're stranded together and Jingyan has to keep LS-MCS alive? Or some minor piece of plotting where he can see LS-MCS at work (I kind of love the idea of LS-MCS solving problems for people who seek him out, Sherlock Holmes-style, in between his palace plotting, to keep his hands busy) and participate? Or one of these interludes in the tunnel or during their evening conversations?

I'm also very, very fond of the idea of Jingyan essentially kidnapping LS-MCS in the end and bringing him to the palace and begging him to live, sickness or no sickness, and slowly teaching him to love himself just as everybody in his loves him. Honestly, the more indulgent, the better; if this suits your tastes, go all in.

I have some specific preferences for Nirvana in Fire: the setting and the setup are a huge part of the enjoyment for me, so this is the fandom where I'd prefer not to read AUs or canon divergence stories (until it's the finale or post-finale canon divergence; I'm fine with MCS-LS being tragically dead and Jingyan dealing with the fallout, but I would also eagerly welcome all possible fix-it options), or soulbonding AUs and such, and where I'm mostly interested in the present timeline. The same things that worked for me in the show would work for me in fics: hurt/comfort, sarcasm, dramatic irony, plot twists, complicated relationships, friendship and loyalty, people being really reverent with their mothers, determination and self-sacrifice, the way everybody fusses over MCS-LS, the warmth of the household interludes, the whiplash between epic and mundane.

Babylon 5
Jeffrey Sinclair (Babylon 5)
Action/Adventure, Angst, AU - Canon Divergence, AU - Genre Shift, AU - SciFi / Fantasy Elements, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Hurt/Comfort, Interpersonal Drama

Spoilery!
Commander Sinclair was hands down one of my favorite characters in Babylon 5, and I was devastated when he left the show (I've learned why, after, and - yeah). I loved his dignity and his gravitas, I loved that he was a scary badass but also a skilled diplomat, I loved how her paid attention to grand politics and little interpersonal details at once, I loved how self-sacrificial and secretly self-destructive he was, I loved the warmth and the tragedy, all mixed together. I think he's gotten a really grand story and send-off in canon, all things considered, so really, I'd just - love to spend more time with him (and any other characters you choose, obviously). His war stories, or any daily grand emergency of ruling Babylon 5, or his time with Minbari, or his, hah, other time with Minbari, his dealing with the Rangers...

(A question that has been plaguing me forever: did he really take to Minbari cryptic ways, or was he the one who TAUGHT Minbari their cryptic ways? Alternately, was he really into LotR and is it why the Rangers wear these completely inconspicuous green cloaks with leaf pins?)

If we're going sideways to canon, I always regretted we didn't get to see more of Sheridan and Sinclair working together - they were really different and had an interesting dynamics, and I wish there was time and space to explore that. And if we're leaving canon altogether, I always thought that B5, given its obvious inspiration, is practically ready-made for a grand style fantasy AU, swords and magic and terrifying enemies and loyalty and martyrdom and last minute salvation; if it's your kind of thing, please feel free to go there.

Memory Sorrow and Thorn - Tad Williams
Miriamele (Memory Sorrow and Thorn), Simon (Memory Sorrow and Thorn)
Action/Adventure, Angst, Canon Style Plot, Character Development, Established Relationship, Hurt/Comfort

I'm SO GRATEFUL to whoever had nominated this book, and if we've by chance matched on it, I salute your taste gratefully! It's one of my most cherished fantasy doorstoppers, and Simon is one of my favorite peasant-to-king characters, and his prickly and complicated relationship with Miriamele was always very important to me. I'm waiting eagerly for the sequels, and meanwhile I've always wanted to know about how they fared after the war ended, with all the weight of rebuilding the shattered kingdom on their shoulders, and with the wounds they've collected on the way (I imagine they both have collected a rather heavy case of PTSD). So - diplomatic incidents? Cleaning up the remnants of norns and cultists? Seeing Josua again? Sealing the catacombs under the castle and coping with what went down with Simon there? Just - grieving and celebrating and growing up and growing into each other, and maybe even growing old, if it strikes your fancy. Feel free to include everybody else! I love pretty much everybody in this book, and will be excited to see them, too.

Onmyouji | The Yin-Yang Master (Movies)
Abe no Seimei/Minamoto no Hiromasa
Action/Adventure, AU - SciFi / Fantasy Elements, Character Development, Established Relationship, Getting Together, Hurt/Comfort, Mystery/Procedural, Angst, AU - Genre Shift, Canon Style Plot

I really love both of these movies, and my request is essentially 'more of this', or, rather, more of the relationship between Seimei and Hiromasa that delighted me endlessly. I love how smitten Seimei is from the day one, I love how Hiromasa is not ashamed to be afraid but always comes through when it counts, I love that Seimei teases but never unkindly and Hiromasa never takes offense, I love how they would literally do anything for each other's sake, move heaven and earth and defy death and do everything in-between. So - any story, be it a character piece or a casefile, would be welcome, or you could go wild with the AUs: the Heian space opera! Steampunk! Noir movie! A procedural! As long as these two are themselves and together (and, optionally, if this themselves and together includes Seimei saving Hiromasa or fussing over him), I'll be excited about everything.

And that's it! Thank you again, and best of luck.
